How We Chose These Smartphones

You want a phone that doesn’t make you feel like you’re deciphering hieroglyphics every time you try to make a call or send a message. We focused on phones that offer easy setup, intuitive interfaces, and clear displays.

Battery life was a big factor — a phone is only useful if it stays charged through your day. We also looked at sound quality for calls, since hearing clearly matters, and cameras for those snapshots of grandkids or scenic winter views. Price was considered too, balancing affordability with reliable performance.

Finally, we took into account the overall user experience from real buyers, especially seniors, who have shared what works and what doesn’t in their daily usage.

What People Say

Users find it easy to set up and use, appreciating the good battery life and clear display. Many say it’s surprisingly fast and reliable for daily use without overwhelming you with extras.

🗣️ bertie

Given the price I paid, the phone seems fairly good. Admittedly this is a spare phone to be used when I’m flying the drone or using the gimbal. But easy to setup. If you have an Android phone, this will all be fairly familiar. With access to both Google Play Store and the Honor app market. Setting up, connected to my Wifi quick and easily. Same with the phone side, although 4G only though. Wifi calling enabled. The phone is fairly slim. Reasonably fast too. Apps were quickly installed. Yes, it might not be cutting edge but it does what a phone should do. Indeed, it’s not a bad buy at all.

🗣️ Charlotte Williams

So impressed! It’s so much better than the price would make you think! It works like something that should cost at least double and I’m genuinely so happy with my purchase.

What People Say

Users love how simple it is to get started and use daily, especially appreciating the loud, clear sound and the emergency button. Many have found setup straightforward and the screen friendly on the eyes.

🗣️ Jenny Kissenger

Dead easy to set up and use, nice clear display and no scrolling through weird symbolic icons, you don’t have to use charging cradle. It’s aimed at elderly, but I’m not there yet, just use a dumb phone for calls and texts and to be free of screens outside work, this is fab, it was this or Nokia3210, I decided to ditch the 90s nostalgia in favour of easy peasy.

🗣️ J. G. McMillan

Bought this to replace a cheaper artfone model which is starting to buzz and has crackling on line in use. The functions available like camera, texting won’t be used I think but the emergency button will be a boon and the clear sound of ringer and sound at the earpiece is very good (according to mum) and she says it sounds clear. Set up is a doddle and although I haven’t set it yet, the phone can be set to HAC, hearing aid compatible for clearer hearing with hearing aids especially in surround ambient noise. Hopefully we’ll get her to carry it with her when she goes out, not just a home phone. Over time I’ll show her the camera and texting but I’m not too worried if she doesn’t get it. Nice phone, decent price, good functions but good loud sound it what we needed.
